Tenor is detained on suspicion of rape
NewsPolice in the town of Calella, some 50km from Barcelona, last week arrested the Catalan tenor Albert Deprius after graffiti appeared around the town accusing him of rape.
Deprius, conductor of the Sinfónica Harmonia orchestra and chorus, has been accused of sexual abuse by at least three students at the Escuela Pía de Calella where he teaches. One filed a complaint to the police last month alleging that he raped her at age 14.
Deprius was brought in for questioning a week ago but no charges have been brought.
Presumptions of innocence apply.
