The Aix-en-Provence festival has announced two major opera commissions for next summer.

George Benjamin and Martin Crimp’s opera Picture a day like this will follow their 2012 triumph with Written on Skin.

And Philip Venables (pictured) and Ted Huffman are working on The Faggots and Their Friends Between Revolutions, ‘a baroque, iconoclastic musical revue joyously celebrating all differences.’

Are we entering a post-Brexit cultural rapprochement?

    Cultural rapprochement or not, due to the economic problems it is now called Bregret. So sorry to see what is happening.

      Never heard anyone refer to it like that. Maybe it’s a word which only circulates in the Brussels-dependent ecosystem.

    Cultural rapprochement? Not until UK ensembles can tour the rest of Europe without the ridiculous amounts of red tape that the tory government criminals’ Brexit has saddled us with. That’s a very long way away.
