Two American pianists and a Ukrainian vie for $100k award
NewsThe Honens Competition in Canada named three finalists last night.
They are:
Rachel Breen, US, 26
Sasha Kasman Laude, US, 27 (pictured) and
Illia Ovcharenko, Ukraine, 21.
The winner receives C$100,000 and a half-million dollar career development package.
Ovcharenko may be a public darling because of his nationality during these times, but objectively he is a terrible pianist.
Your use of the word “objectively” in stating your own opinion is quite laughable. I don’t know this pianist at all, but apparently a panel of highly respected professional pianists do not find him to be objectively terrible whatsoever.
Not nearly as laughable as his dreadful Liszt sonata on YouTube. Look it up.
I just watched his semi final program on YouTube – very fine pianist indeed!
Have you actually heard him? Or is it just a spontaneous brain ejaculation?
I don’t know Ovcharenko, but I know the two young women very well, and they are both spectacular pianists and musicians. A very tough choice……
