Dame Angela Lansbury died this week aged 96. An accomplished actor and singer, she was best known for her television appearances but she also had a long and distinguished career in the theatre and in movies, culminating in her irresistible performance as Mrs Potts, the castle’s head housekeeper who was transformed into an enchanted teapot in Disney’s 1991 animated feature film of Beauty & The Beast.
Accompanied by composer Alan Menken, Angela Lansbury surprised guests with a special performance of Beauty & The Beast in the 25th Anniversary screening at the Lincoln Centre in New York City.
