I was his soprano soloist once in a St John Passion in Liverpool Cathedral about twenty years ago. He was delightful to work with.

  • Lawrence Kershaw says:

Wonderful musician and simply the nicest guy in the industry! I sang one of the treble (yes, that long ago!) parts in the Monteverdi Beatus vir in St Agnes’s Church in Liverpool and stayed with various of Ian’s choirs right up to my tenor days! He is a superb conductor, an outstanding organist and a frankly inspirational choir trainer and voice expert. A great loss to the Phil but I’m sure he’ll still be seen in other guises.
