The multi-instrumentalist and opera singer Arwel Price has died of of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia, aged 58.

Sad message received from Opera North:
Arwel Price, 1964–2022
With great sadness, we have learned that Arwel Price, one of the longest serving members of our Chorus, passed away this week.
“Arwel joined Opera North as a full-time chorister back in 1997 and over his time with us he brought enormous passion and enthusiasm to his work. He was characterful in performance, whether comedic or tragic, and approached everything he did with joy and purpose.
Those of us who knew and worked with him will never forget his commitment and his unswerving loyalty to Opera North, not least his incorrigible wit and a twinkle in the eye! His passing leaves an empty space in our collective life together but also so many happy and inspiring memories.
He has been taken from us all too soon and we will miss him terribly and will always remember his time at Opera North with fondness and gratitude. May he rest in peace.”

Yes,he was 58, I was in school with him at Brecon High School with him in my form. Even back then when I knew him he was such a loveable person. A sad day for everybody who knew him, from his childhood (from singing on stage at morning school assembly) to his brilliant career that he reached. Bye bye Arwel.

This is dreadfully, dreadfully sad news. Arwel was so valued, and expressed as only Opera North knows how to show in such a genuine way to its chorus members – not this management speak. May he rest in peace. He will be sorely missed by everyone, including the audiences.

It is so sad to hear of the sudden passing of Arwel. I consider it a great privilege to have worked with him at Opera North for over twenty years. He was a marvelous colleague and very talented as a singer and pianist/organist. He was also, and more importantly, a supportive friend and it was a pleasure to work with him in various productions. He had a great sense of humour and was always full of fun in rehearsals, as well as being the consummate professional! Arwel will leave a very large void because of his passing at such a young age, as he had so much more to give and affected the lives of so many in such a positive and loving manner! My deepest condolences to his family, friends and all his colleagues at Opera North at this sad time!
