Just in: Yuja cancels Vienna Phil
NewsMessage from the Lucerne Festival:
Unfortunately, due to ill health, the pianist Yuja Wang has had to cancel her performance with the Vienna Philharmonic / Wiener Philharmoniker and Esa-Pekka Salonen on Tuesday, 6 September 2022. Bertrand Chamayou will replace her playing the piano part of Olivier Messiaen’s “Turangalîla” Symphony. We thank Bertrand Chamayou for stepping in at such short notice and wish Yuja Wang a speedy recovery.
Too bad, no one can have a look at the “superbe” fahionista now 😉
Very nice. 🙁
Let’s hope it isn’t a case of Turangalitis.
Didn’t learn it in time?
She was splendid ten days ago in Salzburg. One of my best concerts ever. The VPO and Salonen were really exceptional. By comparison, the Mahler 7 by Petrenko and the BPO. in the evening of the same day was very poor.
Strange. The Petrenko/BPO Mahler 7 in London this weekend was one of the best Proms of the year.
Unlikely. She’s played it before.
And she played it very well years ago in London with the Simón Bolívar Orchestra under Dudamel at the Royal Festival Hall !!
Too busy sorting out her diamanté shorts!
No she’s played it before.
The Vienna Philharmonic playing Turangalila. Now that’s a casting against type I’d be interested to hear.
Weird there’s a picture of her in Paris hanging out with Orchestre de Paris summer academy members. Guess she’s feeling better!
Her skirts are too short. She got cold.
“Turangalila” is a great work. Full stop.
I’m very sorry to hear of Yuja’s illness, and I wish her a speedy recovery. I hope the pianist who replaces her is up to the task.
