Speaker pioneer dies
RIPWe have been informed of the death of Billy Woodman, founder of ATC and maker of Acoustic Engineer speakers, which are to be found in the best studios and homes. He was 76.
When not making speakers, he was a terrific jazz pianist.
The best reproduction of a solo piano I have heard came from an ATC speaker.
A loss to the industry.
He had a passion for collecting and rebuilding old farm tractors. I remember seeing an ATC workman in a tiny room painting speaker cones with dope: you could hardly breathe in there. I guess permissable conditions will have changed since the 1990s.
RIP. His company was an exemplar of integrity.
