Ruth Leon recommends… Simon & Garfunkel – The Concert in Central Park
Ruth Leon recommendsSimon & Garfunkel – The Concert in Central Park
In 1981, Simon and Garfunkel reunited for a free concert to restore New York City’s most famous park. The Concert In Central Park features the duo’s greatest hits performed for over 500,000 people, one of the largest concert audiences of all time.
The entire live concert is available to rent for $3.99 on Amazon Prime. Rentals include 30 days to start watching this video and 48 hours to finish once started.
But if you only want a taster, a wonderful memory of what these two ground-breaking singer/songwriters could do, you can watch The Sound of Silence on YouTube below. What memories!
Wait. what? Ruth Leon “recommends” a concert recording that’s been available for 30 years and made when the performers were still at the forefront of the cultural consciousness? Bravo for reporting from the bleeding edge of entertainment’s avant-garde, Leon.
funny just listened to some of it yesterday after reading the interview with Marilyn Horne who liked to sing bridge over troubled waters; so I clicked on that in YouTube, no Marilyn Horne but the Central Park concert. So why charge any money for it? It’s on YouTube
No need to rent. It’s being shown frequently on Sky Arts which is free-to-air now.
it’s been played to death on PBS fundraising drives for decades!s
