And here’s another song to remind you of earlier times. This is from one of the Smother Brothers television shows from the 1960s.
This is, of course, the late, great Mama Cass Elliot with one of the Smothers, probably Tommy. Does it matter which one?
One of the most talented vocalists from the folk/rock genre. Loved her timbre, her clear vocalization, her affect. Died too soon.
Dick Smothers, actually. And no, it doesn’t particularly matter.
It’s Tom Smothers…and, actually, it obviously does.
Nope, that’s Tommy.
Thanks. I sit corrected!
Great talent and unforgettable voice. Her enunciation and phrasing puts many professional opera singers to shame. Hard to believe it’s been almost 50 years since she passed away. One wonders if someone of her size could make it today, what with musicians of all genres having to look like models.
During that era, not many pop singers had hits with songs that were nearly forty years old. But Cass Elliot did. I recall at the time my mother, hearing it and saying, “Oh, that’s an oldie.”
Yes, she was gone all too soon.
Too cute for words! Heavenly voice – rest in peace, dear Mama Cass.
Cass Elliott had the biggest and most fabulous voice – could definitely have made it in opera (had she wished).
