Appeal for orchestra violinist who was flooded out
NewsDallas Symphony violinist Lydia Umlauf was reading in bed Monday night when the flash flood hit.
Within minutes, her apartment was under four feet of water.
She swam to safety through a window, throwing her violin to neighbours on an upper floor. All her other possessions are destroyed. The insurance will not cover her loss.

They are scumbags
Sounds like she needs the help of an attorney to force them to pay!
While a lot of homeowners policies cover water damage by broken pipes, etc. – weather related flooding is typically not covered. You’d need a separate flood policy for that, similar to the way that there are separate earthquake policies on the west coast of the US. Horrible way to find out, but not sure an attorney is going to be helpful in this case.
With any insurance, always get the policy in writing and spend the time to understand what you’re paying for.
Yes, understand just what kind of underhanded schisters insurance agents can be. They will tell you what they think you want to hear and then BURY it somewhere in the fine print!
Food insurance is a separate policy. When I bought my home, I did some research, looked at floodplain maps and purchased insurance accordingly.
She isn’t “owed” anything if she didn’t buy protection for it.
insurance companies never like to pay. she needs legal advise.

Because it rained? Your TDS is making you measurably stupider.
Any chance you live in a blue state? Hoping so. So long as you don’t live in Texas.
It is well established, and the mind of man runneth not to the contrary, that in Texas droughts are ended by floods and vice versa.
I dont know in the states if home insurance covers flood damage
