My dear friend Miriam Margolyes is very entertaining. I can tell you that, not just from her numerous television appearances but from personal experience. I’d rather spend an evening with her than with almost anyone else I know. She has also, as she will tell you and anyone else who will listen, written a book and, if you are in the UK and buying a ticket to her evening in Norwich, you may also buy a signed copy of her book. Or not.
This remarkable evening with one of the most lively, intelligent, and amusing people you will ever meet, will be available online worldwide (without the book if you’re not in the UK, but cheaper) from Thursday and for seven days thereafter.
There is much more to this wonderfully generous public figure than her regular appearances on Graham Norton’s and other talk shows would suggest. These seem to rely somewhat heavily on her sexuality and her religion, although there may be a few sheepherders in Turkmenistan who don’t already know that she is Jewish and a lesbian. I hope during this Evening With Miriam Margolyes, you will come to love, as I do, her intellect and incisive intelligence, her broad world views, her interest in genealogy and her encyclopaedic knowledge of the work of Charles Dickens.

Despite her obvious intelligence, always find her to be offensive using gutter words and the opportunity to create havoc with anybody she doesn’t like. An insensitive woman indeed.

She is a very mixed bag: funny, human, rude, insensitive, lunatic political opinions (including on Israel, a Jewish anti-Zionist and semi-anti-semite), left wing but pro monarchy, talks about sex without having much experience except (as she keeps ON saying to anyone who will listen) ‘sucking off’ men while being a life long lesbian… a jumble!
