Where’s Angela Merkel? In Bayreuth
NewsNo longer Chancellor, but she wouldn’t miss a season.
Local media are showing her with husband Joachim Sauer, heading the list of expected prominenti.
Next in line is Bavaria’s minister-president Markus Söder.
Are there any photos of recent PMs at Covent Garden? Even Glyndebourne? Maybe Theresa May.
The deputy leader of the Labour Party went to Glyndebourne and was held up to ridicule by the deputy PM for her pretension. Get fall down drunk and touch up the buttocks of males in the Carlton Club and you get promotion to deputy chief whip. Such is the (philistine) state of Britain today.
There has not been a sitting President of the US at the Met since Clinton. The Clintons continued to attend.
TM was at Grange Park last Saturday. For Wagner….
(Michael Heseltine was also there – they were not together)
John Major was at The Grange a couple of weeks ago for Macbeth.
You don’t see photos or read about these things because in the UK, unlike Germany, the press aren’t interested.
I appreciate Ms. Merkel’s support of the Arts, but her energy policies while in office, including a most ill advised alliance with Russia, will surely doom a positive assessment of her legacy.
Amen!
It’s little wonder. As with the issue of sending weapons to Ukraine, Germans prefers ever-delayed resolutions.
Thanks for this post about Angela Merkel. I have been wondering about her.
Screening the rainbow press at my local hair dressers recently, I got quite concerned about Angela Merkel.
But if she is back in Bayreuth with her husband (The Phantom of the Opera), everything seems to be OK.
Hope she keeps warm this winter,if not telephone Moscow 999.
Irony is: with her in office, the chances would have been slightly higher to avoid this whole mess and appease Putin. (for now)
pacem non colere est bellum parare.
who doesn‘t build peace, creates war.
Hail Pax Americana! (irony)
Lucky her.
She would be reason enough not to attend
1. She is not “in Bayreuth”. The festival doesn’t start until Monday afternoon.
2. The picture you use here is from the opening night in 2018, not ‘now’.
3. Markus Söder is not in the photograph with her.
4. Mark Rutte is actually next to her. Her husband is to the right shaking hands.
Fixed it for you! You’re welcome…
