‘And beneath it is the bloke in the bowler hat. And that’s that’
NewsBernrd Cribbins, the iconic English comic actor who died today, aged 93, also had two iconic pop hits about English working life and the class system.
Bernard retired at 90, bless his memory.
…. ‘and beneath it is the bloke in the bowler hat. And that’s that’
Sad to hear, though he lived to a ripe old age. Here, outside the UK, he was mainly known for his participation in the series of lowbrow, but occasionally amusing, Carry On comedies.
R.I.P. a real character!
And don’t forget his gentle grumpiness as the stationmaster in The Railway Children – just wonderful. A true legend : RIP Bernard
Bernard Cribbins very recently came out of retirement to film for the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who, through which he won over an entirely new generation of fans. He had plenty of fans already, of course, from his long career as one of the nation’s favourite actors and entertainers. RIP, Bernard – sorely missed, but fondly remembered.
Seeing him in TV series and films, Bernard Cribbins made me feel that all is well and the world is not so bad.
Thanks Bernard. R.I.P.
RIP Bernie
