Domingo’s heading back to Israel
NewsThe 81-year-old attraction is planning a concert with the Jerusalem Symphony in October.
He started his career almost 60 years ago with the Israel Opera in Tel Aviv.
Tickets to his concert start at US$81.
It’s not a charity event.

Domingo indeed started his career sixty years ago at the Tel Aviv opera house established by Edis de Phillipe https://jwa.org/encyclopedia/article/de-philippe-edis
He was poorly paid and my grandfather Menachem Friedman and my great grandmother Minna Friedman who owned a small kiosk selling international magazines (a rarity at the time) on Allenby street nearby the opera, used to give him free newspapers and lunch money (that’s at least my childhood recollection). I wish him well.
Oh, joy.
Those that go are providing charity towards Domingo to buy a ticket to hear that off pitch wobble. To rephrase his line, “He should rest, as he has rusted.”
Many of his concerts are sold out well in advance which is more than can be said for productions at the Met or even the Vienna State nowadays.
Only proving that there are many delusional cult-members among classical music(especially operatic) audiences who can’t get over their childhood memories (same with Levine).
