The Viennese Opera Ball in New York promises an evening full of love on May 13, 2022 in the legendary Cipriani. In the Big Apple, people celebrate with Austrian wines. At the glamorous charity event, the original Sisi star from the Viennese jeweler AE Köchert will go under the hammer at the auction in favor of Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research. Slightly smaller Sisi stars with Swarovski crystals from Ciro support the Caritas aid of the Ukraine….

This year’s ball guests are sending a fashionable sign of support for the Ukraine with the glittering “Sisi Star” with Swarovski crystals by Ciro – a replica of the original by jeweler AE Köchert. While the cheaper version for 75 US dollars (68.75 euros) can already be purchased on the website of the charity event at vienneseoperaball.com, the original from the Imperial and Royal Supplier will go under the hammer in the course of the auction on the ball and will probably be bring in a remarkable result in favor of a good cause. The traditional Viennese jeweler also provides the opera singers and chairs of the magnificent charity event with glittering jewels.
8,000 red roses, fine wines and an opening in the best Viennese tradition

The choreography in the midst of 8,000 red roses from Royal Flowers, which Lukas Klimesch sends to the Big Apple, is created by Sandra Stockmayer and Roman Svabek. Austrian and US American debutant couples will move into the ballroom to the beat of the Viennese Opera Ball Orchestra conducted by Vinicius Kattah.

Message received if not fully understood! I’m sure the Ukraine will be deeply touched by the ‘fashionable sign of support’ and ‘probably the the remarkable result in favor of a good cause’ will be much appreciated. Not to mention the ‘glittering jewels ‘ for the opera singers and [their] chairs in the midst of 8000 red roses. ‘Sandra’ and ‘Roman’ could not done a finer job in this stunning invitation to what sounds to be an even more kitsch event than it’s Viennese equivalent. .

Kind of like a drag version of the Viennese original? Although drag performers tend to be a bit more subtle.

Hard to avoid the conclusion so-called philanthropy is fuelled much more by self-congratulory egotism than concern with the undeniably worthwhile cause.

The Cipriani Restaurant located in Grand Central Station? Yuck.

  • Brian says:

And just as Covid cases are seeing a pretty alarming rise in the city. What could go wrong?

Trump would’ve gone to this with Ivanka.

Melania might still show up with Barron.

Can’t wait for the Mar-a-Lago version next year.

    Tiaras meet horned headdresses.

    Ciro meets QAnon.

    Debutants meet Incels.

More than a little tone-deaf for Manhattan and the world at this moment.

(Debutante couples??? Is this perhaps a filming for next season’s “Gilded Age”?)

Not news – this is an annual tradition in New York and not affiliated with the Vienna State Opera in any way…
