We hear that all major orchestra in France are offering work to refugees from the leading orchestras in Ukraine.

The initiative is being organised by the Orchestre de Paris, together with Anna Stavychenko (pictured), executive director of the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra.

The reason only women are being admitted is because the men are staying behind to fight.

Five players from Kyiv Chamber Orchestra, the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, Soloists of the Kyivska Camerata and the Odesa Philharmonic are performing this week in concerts of the Orchestre de Paris, conducted by Jaap van Zweden, who replaces the erased Valery Gergiev.

How about “expunged” or “abolished” re Mr. Gergiev? “Erased” is politically loaded.
