What can we do to help them – money (and if so, to what organisation?), best wishes through social media (if it is still available), but what else? I have never felt so totally helpless in the midst of such a huge humanitarian crisis, on every level, not just musical. I am in tears at every news report of the Great People of the Ukraine! I will give whatever I can, but only if I can somehow in my own little way be a help. A frustrating situation. Cancelling Gergiev + Netrebko + whomever else is merely a chip off a huge boulder (that is a vast understatement but I cannot find the right words).

If anyone here knows – realistically – how to help, PLEASE LET US KNOW!

Cancelling a Met show is a nice gesture but merely a gesture.

“May God bless them and keep them” comes to mind.
    Sigh.

The Ukrainian Army killed over 10,000 on the Donbas region since the US-led 2014 coup.

I don’t remember the Ukrainian orchestra players denouncing this. I’m upset the Seoul Pop Orchestra allowed them to play.

    Godspeed, gentlemen!

  • Frank Flambeau says:

At their ages, they might be more effective playing music.

    • Barry Guerrero says:

That depends on how poorly they play, and if they amplify their pops music towards the Russian Army. Otherwise, taking up arms is more useful.

  • LeeAnn says:

History has shown us musicians are hero’s. These men are no exception. God be with you!

    • Frank Flambeau says:

You are wrong, Lee Ann. Reinhardt Heydrich was a superb violinist and his father owned a music school; Hitler loved Wagner; Wagner was a huge anti-Semite. And more contemporaneously, there’s V. Gergiev and Anna N.
