Paris buys a Peter Grimes
NewsThe 1945 Britten masterpiece is presently storming its way into all major opera houses.
The new Paris season features Deborah Warner’s production, lately seen at Covent Garden and with much the same cast.
Other new shows include Nixon in China with Thomas Hampson and Renée Fleming, a Krzysztof Warlikowski production of Ambroise Thomas’s Hamlet with Ludovic Tezier and a Gounod Romeo et Juliet alternating Elsa Dreisig and Pretty Yende opposite Benjamin Bernheim.
Full season details here.
Paris has not bought the production. It has always been a co-production between Madrid (seen last year), Covent Garden (currently), Paris (next season) and Rome. One of a number of interesting productions in Paris.
I might pop over as I’m currently stuck on a train to London on the way to the last night of Grimes at the Garden!
So “The Lady Vanishes” I can’t stand it. Did you connect in Basel?
Absolutely worth travelling to Paris for. Possibly the best opera production I’ve ever seen
Managed to get there just in time and it was fabulous see my review in Slipped Disc but I still might go to Paris to see it again!
