Just in: BBC Symphony chief steps down
NewsThe BBC has let it be known that the director of the BBC Symphony Orchestra & Chorus, and BBC Singers for the ast 23 years will step down this summer.
Paul Hughes has been an amiable figure in orchestral management over three decades – first as General Manager of the Academy of Ancient Music, then with the Monteverdi Choir and orchestra and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra before joining the BBC,
The most remarkable aspect of Mr Hughes’ impressive tenure is that nobody ever noticed he was a siamese twin (picture). Personality transcends reality.
There go Raymond Yiu’s pointless commissions
I thought his Burgess piece THE WORLD WAS ONCE ALL MIRACLE piece with Roddy Williams was wonderful and chosen by Andew Davis to complement a vey touching Elgar ‘Starlight Express’
At least we will still have your pointless commentary…
Shame he didn’t step down a lot sooner.
