Sudden death of Berlin opera director, 48
RIPGerman opera companies are sharing news of the death in Berlin of the Czech director Tibor Torell. No cause has been given.
Torell, who was Czech, had worked at Prague, Aachen, Cologne, Coburg and Deutsche Oper am Rhein. He was working on a summer production of Verdi’s I due foscari at the time of his death.
His standout production was Elliott Carter’s What Next? in Duisburg.
Yet again, awful news. What’s going on? Some may have an idea.
