Start your day the Sergei way
Daily Comfort ZoneThe music I need to get me started can be anything from Bach to Bellydance.
This morning it’s the 24 Rachmaninov preludes from a French pianist, Fanny Azzuro, on the Rubicon label.
She calls the record The Landscapes of the Soul and she explores them with a wide-eyed curiosity and therapeutic calm.
Perfect comfort zone for the weird world we presently inhabit.
Lovely playing, particularly the inner voices in the centre section, and the very carefully graduated accelerando on the return to the Alla Marcia. Thank you for this, NL
I often begin the day, after my croissants, with some bellydancing, it helps to get me focussed and prepared for the many corrective remarks I will have to face. Also it helps me loosing weight in that area. Mostly I dance on a CD with Multiple Eclats, ‘t has the right rhythm!

Molto bello.
Brava.
Thank you, Norman!
Beautifully played.
Op 23 no 5. Good stuff. Sounds quite like Richter.
Na, sorry. Try Janos Solyom.
or ANY other pianist
As usual, the conversation veers to artists, and not the music itself. Either someone is wonderful, or they’re awful enough that that anyone else would be better. Translation: the vast majority of artists are somewhere in the middle.
It tickles me that my fairly anodyne praise for this performance attracts 8 thumbs down ! One wonders what goes through these peoples’ minds – if indeed anything does !
Fanny Azzuro is Awesome of Rachmaninoff.
Lovely interpretation
