Dame Mitsuko Uchida backs out
NewsThe British pianist has injured her back and needs to rest for awhile.
She has cancelled the Boston Symphony in January.
Her replacement will be Jean-Yves Thibaudet.

I like Uchida.her Schubert is close to Richter’s.

Always book a Uchida concert for the replacement…a few years ago in London we casually got given Krystian Zimerman as the replacement instead!
What utter nonsense. They are two quite different pianists. I cannot imagine Thibaudet playing Mozart nor would I wish to hear Dame Mitsuko playing Liszt.
What utter rubbish, pianists of their calibre and musicianship should be able to play anything. Whether they like it or not is a completely different matter.
Back issues can be serious. They are certainly painful. I hope this wonderful pianist will, with therapies, regain her strength and provide us with her gracious, fulfilling performances soon.
Congratulations! Thibaudet is the better choice.
