Israel mourns its premier flute
NewsNews has reached us of the death last night of Uri Shoham, the first Israel-born flute player to achieve international standing and for 46 years a member of the Israel Philharmonic. Uri was 90.
He made his radio debut at seven in 1938, studied with Uri Toeplitz and was named principal flute in Jerusalem at age 18.
He played with all the greats.

Uri Shoham was a giant flutist, a wonderful human being, a great teacher and a loving family man.
His enthusiasm for music was one of a kind. May his memory be a blessing.
