Breaking: US concert pianist is charged with murder
NewsThe Greenville County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina has charged a young man of 29 with the brutal knife murder of a veterinary hospital worker, named as Christina Larain Parcell.
The murder suspect is said to have turned himself in.
He has been named by police as Zachary David Hughes. Music sources say Hughes is a Juilliard graduate with a specialty in Beethoven. Hughes, according to his website, studied with Jerome Lowenthal and has performed in the US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, and Japan. For the 2o17-18 season he was resident pianist with the Knoxville Symphony.
The police say they are unaware of any relationship between Hughes and Parcell prior to her murder. The investigation continues.
Is it me, or does Mr. Lowenthal only accepts psychos into his studie?
Please be respectful… my former teacher Jerome Lowenthal is one of the greatest pedagogues in the world. And yes, many musicians become unbalanced psychologically.
Innocent until proven guilty or he cuts a deal. Either way, Beethoven can show him how to write a letter.
A “concert pianist” with no concerts?
Playing the 32 Beethoven Sonatas live in concert, for better or for worse, qualifies him for the title. Then again, the market is so oversaturated that everyone is a concert pianist these days.
“Concert-pianist” is a bit of a stretch — he has had no discernable career and is largely unknown.
Ah yes, to the average SD reader, fewer than 1% of working musicians qualify for the title. Thanks for the reminder that most of us are nobodies.
Anyone know the dedication in this video? Strange his last video was of Beethoven’s last sonata:

He’s a French artist.
That explains a lot!
Horrible
Don’t jump to conclusions, countless clumsy women fall on knives. My guess is he was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
