Vienna awaits the imminent trial of two men who are accused of murdering a well-known downtown jeweller a year ago.

The suspects – known as Ali G. and Dzejlan N – also took a crowbar to a promising young baritone who bellowed them off his premises with heart-rending cries for help.

The unnamed baritone is a key prosecution witness.

This is Wiener Blut as reality TV.

With shades of The Third Man.

Very sad, but it could (and does) happen in any city, anywhere in the world. Jewelers are an obvious target. Yes, the baritone angle gives this case a different look. You wouldn’t expect this on Landstrasse in the Third District either. Still, I hardly see the “Third Man” connection, which had to do with crimes of the post-war black market.

Vienna stands at the top of the citeis which have the best quality of life.

Ali and Dzejlan thought so too, from a different point of view. But they had not count on the power of classical music in the city.

  • Sue Sonata Form says:

I think this is called ‘cultural enrichment’. By shallow people, that is.
