I’ve never really understood the tremendous fuss made over Imogen Cooper: she’s good, yes, but (IMHO) no better than plenty of others, and those with a much more imaginative repertoire.
There’s more to life than endless Schubert with a bit of Janacek thrown in, great as they both are. Good connections? Someone tell me, preferably politely, what it is I’m missing: is there more than mere mystique?
Some nice Bach too, and on a normal piano 🙂

Couldn’t agree more.
Who wlukd ypu recommend? Lang Lang? Imogen is English, and has had her awards bestowed on her for her tremendous contribution to the life of British, and more specifically, English music. She didn’t get it for playing Schubert and Janacek! Very well deserved at 72, and been on the music scene consistently for years. It’s not necessarily the best who get recognised, nor is it a piano competition but honoured by the Queen for consistently contributing significantly to the life of this country. Long may it last.
Congrats, Alice!
Nothing special. Very average.
