RIPWe have been notified of the passing of Carson Kievman, composer of 10 operas and eight symphonies by his own count. He had been suffering from diabetes for several years.
Los Angeles born and a student of Olivier Messiaen, he worked and recorded with leading US orchestras.
Interview with Carson here.
Try some of his music here.
An adventurous composer and full-of-life character.
He will be missed.
He was a brilliant composer who shared his love of music with younger generations and especially with those less advantaged via Sobe Arts and other projects. I sat on the board of Sobe Arts and we did several fundraisers at my house in Miami for the organization. Carson taught me much about music and life. I’m sad he is gone.
yes Carl….so sad, he was my closest friend..hope you are well
