Maestro move: Viennese conductor lands French orchestra
NewsThe Vienna-born conductor Sascha Goetzel has been named Music Director of the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, in France.
Goetzel, 51, starts a year from now.
He has just ended 11 years as chief of the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra.
From everything I have heard, he’s an interesting and enquiring conductor – some interesting concerts and recordings came out of Istanbul during his tenure – good for the Pays de la Loire, I say!
He is indeed a very good conductor, with whom I have had the pleasure of working. He is also an unusually nice man, who remembers peoples’ names years after he worked with them. Bravo, Maestro!
Top Conductor! He is engaging, charming and with an amazing technique. Good for them!
Good to see conductors pursuing interesting careers and flying under the radar. Hope it all goes well.
He looks like Brad Pitt. Just sayin’.
Bravo to Sascha Goetzel. Excellent conductor, humble and kind human being. Nowadays not so common.
Very mysterious, these huge numbers of downvotes. Maybe he has enemies.
Thought the same. Probably, just somebody which have nothing better to do to put randomly dislike. Or jealousy, or envy, or just victim of a miserable day.
