Death of leading Spanish horn, 83
RIPSpanish colleagues are sharing news of the death today of the superb horn player Vicente Zarzo Pitarch. He was 83.
Zarzo was principal horn for 25 years in the Residentie orchestra of The Hague. He also served in Barecelona Reykjavik and Mexico.
He was the author of several works on horn history and technique.
A fine player; I met him in Leeds when the Residentie Orchestra were on tour in Britain; the Opera North horn section took the Hague section out to supper and they enjoyed a ‘real’ English pub. RIP!
