Japan’s Yumeka Nakagawa leaves the Clara Haskil International Piano Competition in Vevey with a first prize of 25,000 Swiss francs.

The South Korean Jae Hong Park, 22, took the Ferrucio Busoni international competition in Bolzano.

    Not surprising since Asians have been dominating classical music for years. There are more pianos in China than anywhere.

    “All shall have prizes” — Norman, do you not think they earned it? Or is race a disqualifying factor? Flaberghasted…

    Why is it so important to so strongly emphasize the nationalities or ethnicities of these winners when they happen to be of Asian origin? If these competitions had been won by a Dane and a Swiss, I doubt that the headline would have emphasized their nationalities.
