Palestinian from Nazareth receives Stradivarius

It is reported that the violinist Yamen Saadi,  born in Nazareth in 1997 and a concertmaster of Barenboim’s West-Eastern Diwan Orchestra, has received a famous  Stradivarius on loan for three years.

The ‘Lord Amherst of Hackney’ Stradivarius is dated 1734. It was last sold in 1972, at a Sothebys auction. The loan is being made to Yaamen Saadi by a private philanthropy circle. Saadi has prviously received grants from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation.
