Bordeaux hires Paris chief to renew its Opéra
NewsThe troubled Opéra de Bordeaux has named Emmanuel Hondré to remplace Marc Minkowski as its new chief
Hondré, 53, is presently events director at the Philharmonie de Paris, responsible for 500 performances a year. He has also been Professor of the history of music at the Conservatoire.
Minkowski’s time has been marred by frequent clashes with the workforce.
I have known Emmanuel Hondré for more than 10 years. He has organized superb concert series at the Paris Philharmonie. I suspect Bordeaux will be the place to go in France for really great performances.
Let’s wish the new hire well.
