Yale chooses Tai
mainFrom Yale School of Music:
We are excited to announce that violinist Tai Murray will join the Yale School of Music faculty in the fall. Ms. Murray will teach violin and coach chamber music.
Yale has also recruited the international soloist Augustin Hadelich and, as Director of Equity, Belonging, and Student Life, the voice teacher and activist Dr Albert Lee.
Is she any good? Is this a token appointment or was she the most talented candidate?
Dr Albert Lee’s biography and job title make me puke.
Decent violinist, yes
I think that says more about you than about him.
Very deserving
Very exciting and a great American violinist!
I was in school with Tai in the late 90s, she was and is the Real Deal! Awesome person, great player, and she’s been around for a long time. Go Tai!
p.s. the fact that you felt the need to ask the question, and that I felt a need to answer it? Kind of a bummer..
‘the fact that you felt the need to ask the question, and that I felt a need to answer it?’
That’s the consequence of affirmative action.
No, this is the consequence of your bad faith.
No- it is precisely the result of affirmative action. Read Thomas Sowell and others.
I’m well aware of Sowell. He IS affirmative action. His whole business model is making White people feel like they’re not racist. Real economists have no use for him.
Affirmative action, or race-based hiring of any kind creates bad faith. Duh.
Very good, yes. She has a recording out of Ysaye’s six solo incredibly difficult violin sonatas that you should check out.
Augustin Hadelich is a wonderful violinist and musician. He overcame great obstacles in his life and career. He should be hired and paid for teaching violin, not for one of those “created” PC positions .
He has been hired to teach the violin.
The mass of commas makes it a little confusing. I believe he’s being hired to teach violin. It’s Dr. Lee for what you are calling the “PC position,” thank you.
I believe you missed the conjunction “and” in that very long and misleading sentence. Dr Lee has been appointed Director of Equity, Belonging, and Student Life. Mr. Hadelich was indeed hired to teach the violin.
Not sure about the other two, but Augustin Hadelich is definitely an outstanding violinist and a very fine musician.
Director of Equity, Belonging, and Student Life. You must be joking? At Yale?
Tai Murray made a recording with Chi-Chi Nwanoku, the ardent wokist, an unfortunate association, surely ?
That posh green chair pretty much sums up the value of the Director of Equity, Belonging, and Student Life at Yale! This is good for a laugh.
