Whiteface opera? An evening with Eva Braun
NewsThe Finnish composer Pasi Lyytikäinen has written a monologue opera “Der unveröffentlichte Film der Eva Braun” (Eva Braun’s unreleased film).
It will be premiered in Helsinki in September together with Grigori Frid’s monologue opera “The Diary of Anne Frank” (1968).
From the blurb: ““The unreleased film of Eva Braun” is a premiere of Maritza Núñez’s libretto composed by Pasi Lyytikäinen. The monologue opera is a surreal and absurd description of the aging Eva Braun going through her own life, choices, and emotions. What made young Eva Braun fall in love with Adolf Hitler? Does Eva Braun regret her past decisions and forgotten dreams?”
if you have nothing to say, you let someone else say it.
Perhaps Scottish Opera could mount a production, by way of atonement as a role debut for Julian Chou-Lambert? That should be woke enough for all concerned.
