New chief for Chicago’s other orchestra
NewsThe Chicago Philharmonic Society has chosen Terell M. Johnson as its new Executive Director, succeeding Donna Milanovich who turned a typical US orchestra into European-model musician-majority governance, which stands as a beacon for innovative orchestral structure.
Johnson has been working for the New World Symphony as Director of Business Development and Interim Director of Community Engagement. In the past year, he has led a cross-organizational effort in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
According to his bio, he has no executive director experience, ie., fundraising, marketing, etc. The press release does mention his “charisma.” We wish him well.
