The Belgian-British songwriter Marcus Stellman, a co-writer of the 1950s hit Tulips from Amsterdam, has died at 96.
He is best known as the originator of the daytime UK television show Countdown.
The Tulips melody is closely related to the Flower Waltz in Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker ballet.
