One Dutch orchestra finds a music director

While Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw continues headless ad clueless for the next few years, the Residentie orchestra of The Hague has lost no time or sleep in replacing the departing Nicholas Collon.

The new chief in The Hague will be the German conductor Anja Bihlmaier, 42, who has worked with the orchestra for the past three years.

This will be her first chief conductor position.

    She’s one of the few female batons who is not a poser. More like Chan, Mälkki, and Young.

    I worked with her when she was a fledgling conductor in Chemnitz. She was impressive then and I am certain the Hague will flourish under her baton.
