mainHamilton, The Lion King, and Wicked, will return to Broadway on September 14.
Together, these three have sold 176 million tickets.
Today, the Lion King had its biggest box-office sale in 24 years.
Just in: @TheLionKing just had it’s single greatest day of ticket sales in the show’s entire 24 year #broadway run, per a rep with #Disney 🦁 #nyc #theatre #BroadwayWillBeBack #TheLionKing #fox5ny

Wow. Presumably a clear indicator of strong pent-up demand, which I expect extends well beyond Broadway. If Broadway is fully back in September, all performing arts can be too. Let’s be sure our sector is preparing for success – dream big, fellow arts professionals!
Pabulum for the masses.
Don’t be such a bloody snob. I have no interest in seeing these shows either, but I do not sneer at those who do. Musical theatre is a genre, and from people who have seen them, I understand they are beautifully staged, well-performed shows with some very agreeable popular music. Life IS a cabaret, old chum…
