Just in: Netrebko snubs Salzburg
mainSalzburg has moved this year’s Easter festival to October.
All well and good, but Anna Netrebko has a booking at the Vienna Opera that month with her husband Yusif Eyvazov.
So she has pulled out of Salzburg’s gala concert.
See here.
It is not a ‘snub’ if she has a previous booking. I never know why people must use that word indiscriminately.
Or inaccurately.
Is there some sort of list you have to be on in order to be treated fairly?
Yes. This includes not being the music director of the NY Philharmonic.
Hardly a snub or nasty, just a clash of engagements! She clukd hardly pill out of Vienna as that would then be a snub. Salzburg has plenty of other good choices. No one is indispensable.
Ridiculous headline. She honoring a contract in hand. Good for her. Imagine the grief she’d get it she didn’t.
Yes, not a snub. As live performances start – still on modified schedules – we’ll probably see more of this. If the performance moves to a later date, the originally scheduled performers may not be able to make it. And I’m sure some of them will be cringing at having to miss out on opportunities to earn some of the income they missed out on for 14+ months.
(YES, I know AN has sung in the last year, but other performers not so much.)
Netrebko sang Turandot on Met broadcast yesterday… brilliantly.
