Enrike Barenboim. Daniel’s father
Which Scarlatti K numbers are these 3 sonatas please?
I don’t know the first two of them but the third Scarlatti he plays there is K.33

The three Scarlatti sonatas he plays here are K.391 in G major, K. 440 in B-flat major, and K. 33 in D major.
Many thanks.
Very nice student-level playing.
I think that it was around this age that he met for the first time Martha. And few years later in Vienna it was Claudio and Zubin
Barenboim also treasured his meetings with Furtwaengler and Edwin Fischer around that same time, the early and mid-1950s.
Great playing. But not mature playing.
And certainly not what he does now.
Barenboim is a real talent.
brilliant, really. he uses the pedal in certain moments of static harmony which is charming and quasi-brucknerian
Very fine playing although from a time when playing Scarlatti using all the features of a grand piano was encouraged. Reminiscent of Horowitz’s Scarlatti at some points -not a bad thing in my book.
better then than now, imho
I’ve never heard these three Scarlattis before, or the music that follows the Chopin etude.
I knew you’d get a kick out of this, Norman. Certainly worth hearing! I enjoyed the Scarlatti and the Chopin Etude Op. 10 No. 4 especially.
Is that a much younger Celibidache in the second photo?
