Italian bass-baritone dies at 57
mainWe are saddened to hear of the death of Luciano Di Pasquale, a magnificent buffo character who sang at La Scala and internationally in Tokyo, Paris, Oslo, Munich, Glyndebourne, Brussels, Berlin, Rome, Florence, Palermo, Naples, Lyon, Nice, Barcelona, Wexford and more.
The cause of death appears to be a heart condition, not Covid.
Luciano studied with Elio Battaglia and Regina Resnik, maming his name in Mozart and Rossini roles. Since 2008, he has been artistic director of the ArteinCanto Festival in Baschiano.
Why even mention Covid?
Possibly because — as you know — there are those who accuse “the authorities” of claiming that every death is a COVID death, to inflate the death toll and artificially and make the people fearful and obedient.
He left a 2000 recording of the Paisiello Barbiere (on Dynamic) and two Glyndebourne DVDs (on Opus Arte): La Cenerentola from 2005 and L’elisir d’amore from 2009.
