Recorder professor, RIP
mainFriend are reporting the death of Ross Winters, former professor of recorder at the Royal College of Music.
Ross was 69.
So incredibly sad to hear of the passing of Ross Winters over the weekend. He was an incredible man, teacher and recorder player, inspiring a whole generation of new players.
Thank you for the wisdom and fond memories ❤️https://t.co/nCOODWGIS0— Sarah Bronnert (@SarahBronnert) February 15, 2021
Devastated by this news. Ross was a dear colleague at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire for many years and we enjoyed numerous Associated Board diploma examining sessions together. His wisdom, musical brilliance and droll wit will be much missed.
Sorry to hear of his passing.
A great shock. Ross was a great help when I arrived as Director of Music at Ashford School I appreciated his quiet humour and wisdom. He will be greatly missed.
i think recorder professors get less respect than new age progressive musicologists.
I was lucky enough to have Ross as my best childhood friend. It was a privilege to have known such a loyal person.
