James Dickenson and Nick Stringfellow have left the Villiers Quartet, which they co-founded in 2011, ‘to pursue other projects’.

Their replacements are the Canadian violinist Katie Stillman (pictured) and London-born cellist Leo Melvin.

    “Splits up” usually means, to me at least, that a quartet has disbanded. This is more a change of makeup not unlike what has happened to all but a lucky few string quartets.

    FYI on June 8, 2020 the Villiers Quartet had announced that Katie Stillman was joining them as their first violinist, so that aspect of the news is 6 months old already.
