Good hair day in Geneva
mainIt looks like Pelléas et Mélisande is going ahead at the Grand Théâtre.

I never thought this production would happen, but here I am in Geneva to perform Mélisande! I have to say it’s wonderful to be back on stage and to sing for the first time in this beautiful operahouse in Geneva. This year has been tough for everyone, and of course lives are most important..but I have to admit I feel that culture is something politicians seem to think is not so important..seeing empty stages and theatres all around the world, but packed shopping malls! I think there are many ways to perform in a safe way if we use some imagination, and I really think live theatre/opera/concerts and all artforms always have been an essential and important part of human history..also through our darkest times…
I had a costume fitting today and I also think this dress made by Iris Van Herpen is a piece of art! Stay safe!
I agree, that dress is amazing!
definitely a stunning dress – more so than the opera!
Well, yujafan, it’s not everybody’s cup of tea. Our household is divided on this work, but for those of us who love it (myself included) it has a unique magic. Those opening notes…..The only aspect which disappoints me is the personalities of the characters, none of whom seem to do the best for him/herself. I always find it fascinating that the music of Mahler (1860 – 1911) and Debussy (1862 – 1918) could have been so contrasting when, in world terms, they lived so near to each other. Both masters in so many fields, so differently.
Hmmm… I don’t think so – closed until January 22 at least. https://www.gtg.ch/en/coronavirus/
looks like the rings through a tree trunk
The skirt looks like the underside of a mushroom.
Thanks for posting:) Yes, it’s true they are closed now until 22nd, but Swiss National TV are filming the first performance to stream, then it looks like the rest of the performances will go ahead as planned.
