Weimar classic to be 21st century opera
mainBielefeld Theater has commissioned a full-length opera on Alfred Döblin’s 1929 novel Berlin Alexanderplatz, with a premiere planned for next season.
The composers are two brothers, Vivan and Ketan Bhatti.

The novel has given rise to several films but has never been set to music.
