Golden moment. The two greatest voices. Thank you for sharing this, Norman.
Mel Tormé wrote a memoir, “The Other Side of the Rainbow,” about his year working on the Judy Garland Show, from which that clip is excerpted.
It is the sort of memoir where he is always the quickest wit in the room but if you can get past that it is a great insider view of Garland, television and show biz in the early 60s, with a side of Kennedy’s assassination in the middle.
Her kids sued him over it but I’m sure nothing came of that.
Two glorious artists, singers, musicians, and above all: two glorious ladies.
I’ll love them both always.
Judy and Babs: GOATs.
Brilliant!
Lovely! They work so well together. Thank you for posting
this.
One at the start of a career and the other at the end; Garland’s voice had really dropped considerably at this point. And Streisand ruined her voice later singing pop music and schlock and ended up shrieking. Sadly.
Streisand was never better than in ‘Funny Girl’.
