This great news! Another generation of singers will be taught to employ straight tone when singing Lieder!
Or taught to sound (and look) like a cadaver…
What on earth is an Anglo German? Try to play the ball not the man.
Whilst his interpretative thought may be in the right place (certainly from an academic standpoint), his singing is frankly atrocious, and I shudder at the thought of young singers copying his ‘technique’.
I would assume that an Anglo German, as opposed to an anglophile German, is someone with dual nationality.
I have much enjoyed Mr. Bostridge’s recordings and recitals over the years. I don’t recall hearing yours…
What a wonderful professor he will be! I hope he’ll have a chance to share his extensive knowledge in non-musical areas as well. His academic accomplishments are impressive!
What is he supposed to teach? How to have a career with no voice or real technique? Just watching him jiggle about on the stage while scrunching up his face in “expressive” concentration is unbearable.
How is that not terminally obvious, people?
