She looks pretty enough to make my baton stand straight up too.
Old Man-still don’t get it, huh
Oh. I didn’t realise that was what the announcement meant by ‘fast-rising’
Amazing how you can get so far in your career that you’re conducting at the Salzburg Festpiel and still some ass will make clear in the comments of a large classical music blog that he only sees you for his sexual gratification.
It’s not a joke, it’s grotesque misogyny.
Cosi fan tutte!
Great news. And the VPO will play Mahler, Bruckner, Beethoven’s 9 – not really imaginative, but a highly enjoyable snub to the doomsayers announcing that we would only hear small orchestral formations forever.
I’d like to see Mallwitz’ Così fan Tutte. She’s awesome. Too bad it’s in A*stra. I’ll never go there again.
😀
You may frown upon me for never going to A*stria again. But that doesn’t change the fact that Mallwitz is a great conductor.
Lea Desandre and Asmik Grigorian! Two of the finest!!
Easy when the distancing is only 1 metre apart not two as per the whole British Isles. Makes anything viable just plain impossible.
It should also be said that this is the official 100th anniversary of Salzburger Festspiele (premiere of Jedermann in 1920).
However, the first opera of the festival was performed in 1922 – conducted by Richard Strauss.
It was neither Così fan tutte nor Elektra.
