Shutdowns for Argerich and Pereira

The pianist’s Hamburg festival in late June has been called off for Covid reasons. The Leipzig Gewandhaus this morning cancelled its Openair summer classics festival.

Also off is the Maggio Musicale in Florence, which would have been Alexander Pereira’s first show as intendant. Pereira says: ‘I am in daily contact with Dario Nardella (Mayor of Florence and chairman of the Maggio) and the Italian Ministry of Culture to follow the evolution of the situation and honestly, I must say that I am very worried about the programming of June and July of our Festival and I am afraid that it is difficult to think that it will be possible to go on stage in the summer with our other productions.’
